Sakura has worked for the Consulate-General of Japan and the Ministry for Primary Industries, where she developed a strong interest in regulatory environments and public-sector processes. She has always been interested in the stories behind criminal cases, sees criminal defence as vital to achieving justice and fairness, and values supporting criminal defence lawyers.

Sakura is currently studying the New Zealand Diploma in Legal Executive Studies to strengthen her understanding of the legal system. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her children and family.
