Alysia currently works as a Law Clerk, having started with Bloem & Associates in February 2019.

Since starting work with Bloem & Associates, Alysia has been involved in writing submissions for discharge without conviction applications and a variety of pre-trial applications, as well as trial preparation for complex cases.

Prior to working at Bloem & Associates, Alysia participated in a 6-month internship at the Police Prosecution Service, and a 3-month internship at PwC Legal. At University she focused on papers that taught all aspects of the criminal law. She completed her dissertation on the impact of new legislation regarding automatic name suppression on the right to freedom of speech in New Zealand.

Alysia has a keen interest in cases concerning violence, historic sexual offending and issues around the involvement of the media in criminal cases. She is passionate about criminal defence as she strongly believes that the rights afforded to people in the criminal justice system need to be protected and upheld.

Alysia graduated from the University of Auckland with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and a Bachelor of Commerce. She will be admitted to the bar in October 2019.
