Anja is a Law Clerk at Bloem Law, having joined the firm for a winter internship in 2025.

Anja is in the final year of her Bachelor of Laws (Honours) degree at Auckland University of Technology. Anja has excelled in her degree finishing first in her cohort for several papers, notably including the full-year Criminal Law paper in 2024. She has also had her research work published in the 2024 edition of the New Zealand Law Students’ Journal. Anja’s research focused on balancing work culture with justice in a workplace health and safety context, in the wake of the Whakaari / White Island disaster.

Anja brings a maturity to her role that comes from balancing outstanding academic achievement with real-world pragmatism, as a partner and mother of three beautiful daughters.

Anja’s strong sense of empathy is born of varied life experiences and shaped by her previous role at YouthLaw, which she credits as having been a hugely important stepping stone in realising and refining her passion for criminal law. She is focused on finishing her degree strongly and aspires to a future where she will play an instrumental role in achieving transformational outcomes for clients.
