Brittany is a criminal defence lawyer at Bloem Law. With a sharp legal mind and a passion for justice, she has a particular interest in human rights – especially pre-trial issues that challenge the potential misuse of police powers, such as warrantless searches and other privacy intrusions.
Her honours dissertation examined whether New Zealand should adopt a defence of diminished responsibility for murder, reflecting her ongoing interest in the intersection of mental health and the criminal justice system.
Before becoming a lawyer, Brittany was a law clerk at the firm, known for her meticulous research and high-calibre legal writing. These skills now directly benefit her clients.
Brittany brings dedication and empathy to every case. She takes the time to understand each client’s situation in context, always striving to get to the heart of the matter and pursue justice with clarity and care.
Outside the courtroom, Brittany is a classically trained singer and a member of the New Zealand Opera Chorus. She has proudly represented New Zealand on the world stage as part of the New Zealand Youth Choir, which won the prestigious Choir of the World title at the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod in July 2025.
When she’s not in court or on stage, you’ll likely find Brittany on her weekly Saturday morning bakery run or going for a long walk, listening to new albums, and searching for songs to add to her meticulously curated Spotify playlists.
