Jack is a student in his final year at university and a law clerk at Bloem Law. His role as a clerk is to assist the firm’s outstanding lawyers in any way he can. This means he gets to tackle a diverse array of work such as disclosure review, drafting Court submissions on a myriad of topics, legal research, and meeting with clients. He was proud to draft an opposition to a propensity application in the Court of Appeal in his first month on the job.

Jack was drawn to criminal law because of a longstanding interest in miscarriages of justice, particularly the legal work involved in remedying these. He was introduced to the US-based Innocence Project at age 13 and still follows their work keenly almost a decade on. He is acutely aware of the variable challenges and circumstances that can influence an individual’s involvement in the criminal justice system.

Outside of work, Jack enjoys buying expensive tennis and squash racquets and then becoming frustrated with these purchases when they do not compensate for his lack of ability.
