Scott is an accomplished criminal defence lawyer with extensive experience across New Zealand and the United Kingdom. Prior to his admission in 2018, Scott worked as a law clerk for a preeminent criminal barrister, where he developed a strong foundation in serious criminal litigation and complex case preparation.

During his time with the Public Defence Service, Scott discovered his passion for courtroom advocacy. He regularly appeared in the District and High Courts, including on appeal matters involving bail and sentencing. Scott gained both his PAL2 approval and duty lawyer accreditation, reflecting his capability and commitment to high-quality representation.

Scott went on to further his career at Robinson Legal as a Senior Solicitor where he managed a diverse caseload of legal aid and private clients. He also contributed to several high-profile criminal cases and advised on Anti-Money Laundering matters.

Most recently, Scott returned from the United Kingdom where he worked in public law litigation. In that role, Scott advised the Secretary of State for the Home Department on appeals and judicial review proceedings involving immigration decisions. Of significance, Scott was advising on and coordinating the Government’s response pertaining to the legal challenges that arose from the situation in Gaza. His work spanned complex issues and became the Government’s lead lawyer for challenges involving Biometric Deferral and Excusal.  This experience further strengthened his analytical skills and understanding of administrative decision-making.
