Name Suppression

Publication of your name or your family’s name can be devastating, particularly in the age of social media where information spreads rapidly.

When you are charged, you have the presumption of innocence.  You may have done nothing wrong however your name could be tarnished lifelong.

If you are charged with a criminal offence for the first time or you have particular concerns about your name being published in the media, we will assist you with an application for name suppression.

This must be done before your name is published anywhere. We will assist you in applying for name suppression on an interim basis. After that the Court will require further information to continue name suppression.

 

We can assist you to identify what grounds would successfully support an application for name suppression, and in some cases permanent name suppression.
